Abused by an amorphous group of Irish teens

I could never figure out why I could recognize who was going to harrass me, just by seeing them from a distance....

— Spring 2009

June 2008 —

Teens in Kilkenny are abusing me, and I don't know what to do about it. They are an amorphous band [...] and I seldom recognize the individual who shouts at me from behind my back.

Their favorite taunt is "paedophile," which devolved from "pervert" soon after that got a reaction. [...] [This began because] I was photographing some of [them] when they were vandalizing property adjacent to my apartment and running amok in the neighborhood.

I have not been writing about this, because it has been too painfull — and indeed I've been mostly unable to write much of anything at all, for months.

But, in fact, it is the writing that is my only hope of any peace in my mind. It is, in its way, the only possibility that I will be able to work my way out of a problem that seems intractable.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to hurt somebody. I might have to hurt several people.*

* As of spring 2009, I've not had any problems for 6 months or so. I didn't hurt anybody. I did hit one guy in the head, and threatened another.
