I lived in Berkeley for a time in 1998, having gotten a lift there from Seattle with a friend. I had $50 in my pocket, a small pack full of clothing, and a sidebag. I found Berkeley comfortable and colorful, and I saw that a lot of people were eating for free. I thought about what I had in Seattle nothing. I decided to stay, and lived there for a few months. |
