Biblical proportions

The Bible I had
as a child was about 7 by 9 inches across the front, and an inch-and-a-half thick.

The Bible is not a large book.

Thematically, it is limited — as any book would be.

Compared to the incomprehensible greatness of the universe, and its complexity, the Bible is in fact nothing more than a few pages, a thin document, a record of interpretation that is neither comprehensive nor entirely accurate — in other words thinner, even still, on truth.

The Bible, in its thematic scope, and relative to big reality, is very small indeed.
