Religious design

"Both sides ought to be properly taught . . . so people can understand what the debate is about...."

— U.S. President George W. Bush, 1 August 2005

The universe is immaculately suited for our existence. A list of parameters of notable unlikelihood support this idea. The minor alteration of any one of several features of the universe would make life (or even matter) impossible.

American rightwing thinkers propose this as a basis of an idea called "intelligent design," which is a sneaky way of proposing ideas parallel to the Bible.

But The Holy Bible does not offer any special insight about the possibility of intelligent design. It merely asserts that the cosmos is ordered and directed by an eternal, omniscient and omnipotent being. It is one example amongst many of the human attempt to contemplate and understand the ineffable mystery.

Biblical explanations of the universe are not special except that the cultures to which they are attached have attained a type of dominance.

The perception that the extreme hospitality of the universe confirms a biblical description of reality is an illusion based upon the fact that the book mentions the mystery and the fact that people tend to believe what they want to believe.
