Black hole bakery



September 2009, Cork Ireland —

I asked at the Alternative Baking Company, at the English Market, where the bread comes from. She said that they come from various bakeries, and she took my number to pass on to the delivery drivers.

The next day a baker called me. I was near to the English market, so I went in and asked to see the breads that Paul's company makes.

But in the beginning nested a clue to the trouble with Paul. He told me that he needed a baker "at the moment." I didn't like that, but I said okay. He'd meet me in a half-hour.

More than an hour later, he called me. I'd returned home, in an area not convenient to him on his rounds. We'd meet the next day.
