People generally think of solitude as the lack of contact with people but a connoisseur (or even decent aficionado) must also account for quality of isolation.
Isolation is a condition in which nobody can decide that one must interact.
If you have to risk obligatory social connection every time you step out of a room, you don't have perfect isolation. But at least you have the room.
That's how you measure solitude.
