When Dad tried to kill me

Religion is dangerous

Religion is dangerous, and fanaticism grows in a festering pool of ideas that is the natural environment of the obsession with a piece of text.

The Bible itself contains stories of its best and brightest acting in the nastiest possible ways. Moses was a genocidal maniac.*

Nobody who reads the Bible for religious purposes seems to really think about what it says.

*Numbers 21:34   And the Lord said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

21:35   So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
