At what degree of consciousness does an "observer" become so — able to witness quantum reality, and make it behave in a determinate manner?
On Earth, only humans have developed apparati capable of measuring such effects.
But, the apparati set up, who may observe the quantum occasion with a degree of awareness that would constitute "observation," and be able to make the status of a particle/wave "decide itself?"
Human chauvinism, speciesism, has long made us believe that we alone are conscious — different by type, not only by degree. Clearly, this is prejudiced.
But the idea that consciousness affects reality seems to imply the existence of a threshold.
At what point is consciousness?
