No mourning period for Irish humor

Irish humor has no mourning period. The only halfway-funny joke I heard about 9/11 came within days—from Dublin, of course.

"Did you hear they're going to knock down Ballymun Flats?"

  "Ryanair got the contract."

[Ballymun Flats is a notorious slumlike tower-complex housing project in North Dublin, built in the 1960's. In 2013 they are in reality being demolished.]

(Even the Irish couldn't do better than that, so tragic was the occasion. I never heard another joke that I can remember, now that I think about it.) But the point is, that's how fast it happens. I heard it that same week, in Kilkenny, from a Dubliner.
