Deconstructing perfection


My childhood religion is not the only true way....

If "The Truth" is not the only true way, then a more-basic skepticism logically follows....

I grew up in a turn-of-the-century church that "didn't have a name" — but amongst our own, we called it "The Truth." ...

The Bible itself is not even internally consistent....

If the Bible is not perfect, then every part of it is subject to question....

If it doesn't make sense, its influence on public policy is inappropriate.

This creates a feedback mechanism requiring more skepticism.
